Is that a bad sign?

So I took Caroline to the pediatrician last week for her 2 month appointment, which I knew would include the first dreaded round of shots for my sweet girl. What I didn't expect is that there were FOUR of them, and that she would react so horribly to the pain. Call me crazy, but isn't there some way to incorporate at least a few of them into the same needle?! I mean, I used to work at an animal hospital, and the dogs and cats only had to have 2 injections with 4 different vaccines. You would think they could find a way to combine at least a few of them by now! Anyway, she screamed bloody murder and I held it together and was eventually able to calm her down. We've got to go back at 4 months for the next round and I'm already dreading it! There's nothing worse than watching the little one you love most in the world endure pain. If there's anyway I could take on the pain for her, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

So while we're there, our pediatrician, Dr. Dixon, does an exam on Caroline, and she's acting like her little wild and crazy self - flailing limbs and all. Dr. Dixon laughs, then looks at me and asks, "Is she like this all the time?" "Most definitely! She's absolutely insane and NEVER stops moving!" He proceeds to tell me that she's the most energetic baby he's ever seen, and jokingly recommends I get her involved in some sport in several years when she's old enough. Is that a bad sign?? Oh boy! Anyway, she's 11lbs. 7oz. now and is in the 50th percentile on weight, and she's still in the 90th percentile on height! Looks like she might be a tall girl!

It has begun...

So I've been putting off the inevitable with the whole blogging world for a while now only because I don't know where to start. My mind races constantly, as I'm sure most women's minds do, and I know there are millions of things I could give my two cents on but I'm not quite sure if anyone will really care. Nonetheless, here I am with my first blog, and I look forward to sharing my life with those who take the time to read it.

Caroline is 5 weeks and 3 days old today, and she's without a doubt the light of my life! I can't describe her as anything less than a miracle, and I'm just amazed that God trusts me enough to care for, raise and mold His child. It's humbling and scary at the same time. To think that I, a very imperfect sinner, am responsible for the upbringing of this child just baffles me. I mean seriously, what is God thinking? As I over-analyze the situation I come to realize I already know the answer... no one will ever love her as much as I love her, and God knows that. And that's why we're perfect for each other! I know I'm going to screw up along the way, but as long as I love her with everything that I have, and as long as I continually seek guidance from God, I can do no wrong.

Caroline changes so much every day, it's scary! She's now starting to really smile when you talk to her... not just the smile that you know is probably gas but you pretend it's real just to make yourself feel better :) Last night Ben started talking to her and her face just lit up with the biggest smile, and it just melted our hearts. Just when I think I can't love her anymore, she does something like that and I just about fall over! Needless to say, Ben and I are both officially smitten. We're now taking bets on who's going to be the biggest pushover when she gets old enough to learn how to "work" us. My money's on Daddy... :)
